the chicklets’ nest

i’m always looking for a reason to spruce up the maxey pad (ha!), so moving across the world into a new apartment was PURE FUN. especially considering we found such a lovely little place to call home. i was super anxious when we were looking, as the pickings were a bit slim in the nuremberg apartment department. i felt like goldilocks as we toured the first few: “too small” … “too icky” … “too many stairs” … so we felt amazingly blessed when we found the one that is “just right.”

it’s not perfect – it’s on a super busy street, the kitchen is as far from the dining room as you can get (i’m seriously on the hunt for a little cart to help make the trek back & forth a bit easier!), and only the rooms in back get good light. but in spite of its shortcomings, i love every little inch of it. from day one it felt like home – and since we’re 5000 miles away from our real home, i’m so grateful for this little corner of nuremberg which has welcomed us so warmly.

the first room i really tackled was the chicklets’ – i wanted them to have a sweet, special nest that made them feel safe and at home in our new world.

they share a room now, and have a fun little playroom which connects to their bedroom. the playroom isn’t quite “done,” but it has toys and dollhouses and the girls think it’s fab. and as for the girls’ bedroom – it’s PINK (lordy, is it pink) and simple and perfect for my sweet littles. we love snuggling up in their beds and reading and looking at the trees outside. i love hearing them giggle when we put them to bed, and finding little books and toys tangled in their sheets in the morning (naughty little girls!). i love that they’re in there together, talking and whispering and plotting. i love this room.

and lest you think it always looks so pulled together, here are some pix from a normal day in the playroom. ack!

auf wiedersehen from the maxey nest.
