it’s been 7 months now and wen and the chicklets had yet to see beyond the sliding glass doors of my new workplace. we were well-intentioned and kept meaning to have them come visit for lunch / coffee / tour / whatever, but for whatever reason it just hadn’t happened. until last week, when they arrived to join me for a celebratory birthday lunch. perfect, perfect afternoon. the girls ran around as if they owned the place, and i loved showing them all “where mommy goes every day.” over the summer (before we got our second car & piper started school) they drove me to work most days, and piper always asked questions about what it was like “back there.” i’m quite certain she had imagined some type of whimsical oz beyond the sliding doors – and the best part – it actually lived up to those expectations.
we had a progressive meal – lunch in one cafeteria, dessert in the other.
stopped by the stadium to say, “guten morgen” to mr dassler.
caught a few minutes of a cross-fit class – piper was ready to join in. if only she had her training shoes w her.
the weather wasn’t ideal, so from here wen & i had our own workout lugging 2 freezing girls all the way back across campus to send them on their way.
all in all, a perfect birthday afternoon. 1 wen + 2 chicklets + 3 stripes = awesomeness.
