lake como {or, em + kel’s adventure, part 3}

… so when we left off, kellie & i were giving cinque terre a last “ciao!” and getting back on the winding roads, heading inland. next stop … lake como.

lake como is one of those places that (for me) has always seemed a bit far-reaching. the land of the fabulous and elite. the home of george clooney and his flavor of the month. a place i had always dreamed of seeing, but not sure when / if it would ever happen.

so imagine my delight when a new friend in germany (who also happened to be my boss!) embarked upon a new career adventure which led him to a beautiful (seriously, BEAUTIFUL) apartment overlooking lake como. generous offers were extended to come stay with him anytime, to which i (without hesitation) replied, YES! and SEE YOU SOON!

jochen graciously welcomed kellie and i to lake como with a tour of his gorgeous new flat, his new home city (como, itself) and a mini stalking session of george clooney’s house. much to my chagrin we had JUST missed mr clooney by a mere hour. but we did meet some local flavor who were QUITE taken with kellie! had she been interested, an italian husband could have been a likely possibility! *wink*

…. on day two jochen had to hit the road back for a weekend visit to germany, so kellie and i took a gorgeous boat-ride around the lake. UNBELIEVABLE. we were awestruck over the views of the lake, the surrounding mountains and all of the incredible lake-side estates. YES, PLEASE. so, so beautiful.

we hopped off the boat at bellagio (WAY cooler than the vegas hotel) and wandered and ate and bought sweet little trinkets for our chicklets. la dolce vita, indeed.
