{bright}

the sun was bright and cheerful this week. of course, once the weekend rolled around the clouds followed (why does that always happen?!) but i was just so very thankful for those days of light and sun.

overall things are looking bright, and for that i’m oh so grateful. i tend to mostly document the fun adventures of our life here, but in reality there is (of course) all of the other stuff as well. the boring, challenging, frustrating, anxiety-inducing stuff that is always a part of life. but right now i’m feeling bright, and am hoping to stay in this content place for a while.

on may 30 we’ll have been here for a full year. HOW IN THE WORLD DID THAT HAPPEN?! it feels as if we stepped into a time-machine which propelled us forward about 6 months. i can’t believe how quickly the past 11 months went by. and at the same time, it’s amazing & fun & crazy to look back and see how far we’ve come, how much we’ve adapted to this new life. yesterday i had to take our car to the dealership – i was hit (for the SECOND time!) and needed to schedule an appointment to get the car repaired. i walked in and the same guy who helped me before said, “hallo, frau maxey! what brings you in today?” we chatted for a bit, scheduled my appointment, and as i walked out the door i smiled to myself at how comfortable we’ve become here. all of those fears when we moved here, how will we know what to do or where to go, when _____ happens?!  i’m proud that we have figured it out. i’m SO THANKFUL for the friends who have supported & guided & helped us along the way.

and on that note, i’m off to bake a cake for a little certain someone who is turning THREE. (speaking of time flying … SNIFF).
